Foreclosures and tax liens?
Sunday, March 7th, 2010In the process of doing some research for someone I have become aware of tax lien and foreclosure auction.
regarding tax lien properties, this seems like a really complicated area to be involved with. what I dont quite understand is how people lose their properties for not paying taxes. im from the u.k and the council tax is approx £1500 approx00 i guess. what sort of tax bills are people losing their homes for.
Are property taxes higher in the u.s , how are they arrived at. is it based on property value?

What do i owe the IRS after i buy a foreclosed property. There are no back taxes or liens. The deed is clear.?
Sunday, February 14th, 2010I’ve purchased a foreclosed property. No liens or back taxes. I own the deed free and clear. This property is in a ‘condemned notice’ status by the township, but i am resurrecting it as a primary residence. My question is, what are my IRS tax implications for this purchase ? Thanks.

When you pay property taxes and have old property tax liens, do the payments go to the old taxes first?
Saturday, February 6th, 2010My husband just found out there is a tax lien from 2004 on his credit report (he and his wife were separated at the time and she had the house and didn’t pay) We looked on the city website and the only taxes listed as due are current for the year. If she was paying the taxes the following years would the payments have automaticaly gone to the old taxes first or could 2004 taxes still be due? Thanks..

Tax lien sale questions?
Friday, January 29th, 2010can property be levied for income tax? or is it just property taxes?
If so, will the taxing agency attempt to collect through wage withholding first or will they try to secure the property first? is a lien on the property the last attempt to collect or their first?
say someone works for a payroll company and constantly gets tax levies from state and federal agencies and this person knows that there is no way the agency will be able to collect from the wages on this person. could this person doing the payroll then turn around and kind of have "insider information" on a potential upcoming property tax lien?
I’d assume this could probably be illegal but it was just a thought that occurred to me.
poster #2: i never said i was in the position to obtain this information. it was a thought i had that someone else COULD do it.
so take your KARMA and shove it. go judge someone else incorrectly.
